The challenge of this challenge is NOT getting the 500 points a week you need. If you look at the mileage, pound and extra point conversions, you will see that it really doesn't take that many workouts a week to accumulate the required point totals. The challenge is diversifying your exercise program and incorporating NEW activities that you may not currently be doing. In creating this challenge one of my underlying goals was to encourage each of you to examine your current workout schedule and to ADD any missing elements. It is incredibly important that we train our cardiovascular and strength systems and that we balance that with flexibility and mind-body components. Many of us (MYSELF included), skew our exercise routines in one direction or the other, ultimately not allowing us to maximize the benefits we CAN achieve from all our time and effort.
So, the question is not whether YOU CAN or can't complete the challenge. The question is whether YOU WILL do what you need to do to adjust your routine in such a way that you incorporate all the elements of a balanced fitness routine. Each of you have the ability to conquer this challenge and to create a NEW and DIFFERENT routine for yourself that allows the benefits you receive from exercising to SOAR to new heights.

Weekly Goal: You must log 200 mile credits, accumulate 200 lb. credits and earn 100 bonus points (OR MORE!) each week of the challenge!
Here’s how you DO IT…
Mileage Credits
You must log 200 miles each week of The Challenge!
• 30 mins cardio = 40 miles
• 45 mins cardio = 50 miles
• 60 mins cardio = 75 miles
• 60 min Group Fitness Class (DOES NOT include Yoga, Pilates or Spin classes) = 100 points
1. Cardio includes cardio done on any piece of cardio equipment in the gym. The following cardio activities done outside of the gym count towards weekly mileage: jogging/running; swimming; walking; cycling; hiking; rollerblading (if you have a question about an activity, just ask me!).
2. Cardio done for less than 30 minutes is great but will not count towards weekly mileage ☺
Pound (lb) Credits
You must lift “200 lbs” each week of The Challenge!
• *The 500 Fitness Challenge/500 rep. Body Weight Workout:
100 Squats (50 narrow stance/50 wide stance); 100 Push-Ups (50 regular/50 hands close); 100 Lunges (25 forward/25 reverse/25 lateral & 25 reverse crossover lunges on each leg); 100 dips (on bench or floor); 100 Downward Dog to Plank (with alternating knee pull) = 25 lbs *Go through the workout twice = 60 points!
• 30 mins weight training = 50 lbs
• 45 mins weight training = 75 bs
• 60 mins weight training = 100 lbs
• 1 hour with a trainer = 150 lbs
1. At least 25 of your “200 lbs.” each week must come from The 500 Fitness Challenge/500 rep. Body Weight Workout!
Extra Points (Yoga/Pilates & Studio Cycling)
You must earn 100 bonus points each week of The Challenge!
• 60 minute Studio Cycling class = 50 points
• 60 minute Yoga or Pilates class/session = 50 points
STEAMCredits
Each week, there will be an opportunity to earn STEAMCredits that can be converted to miles, pounds or extra points! You must log on to the blog every Monday to get details!
